Ticino offers the best of Switzerland with an Italian twist. The southernmost of the nation’s cantons, Ticino shares a border with Italy, and is well known for its breathtaking scenery. The region features countless alpine hiking trails, and is also an artistic and cultural haven. The lakeside city of Lugano is a common place for travellers to stay, thanks to its idyllic town square and beautiful surroundings. Adjacent Lake Lugano is a hub for outdoor recreation and boating. In town, there is an art, natural history and chocolate museum as well as a number of excellent restaurants serving a mix of traditional Italian and Swiss dishes.

Lugano is a lively spot for nightlife, with dinner and drinks by the lake being a popular option. As an alternative, visitors can head to Casino Lugano for a night out. A large and modern casino, there are hundreds of electronic gaming machines to choose from, as well as over 20 tables featuring poker, roulette and blackjack. Casino enthusiasts can also head to nearby Grand Casino Locarno and Casino Admiral Mendrisio located in Locarno and Mendrisio respectively. As a rule, patrons to all three casinos must be 18 with a valid ID and casual dress is permitted.
