Jura

Jura is a small canton in northwest Switzerland, on the nation’s border with France. This scenic region of the country is characterized by rolling green hills and quaint farming villages. The canton’s capital city Delemont (Delsberg in German) is home to just 11,000 inhabitants, but holds a wealth of treasures for potential visitors. Boasting a well preserved medieval heritage, Delemont’s main square and old city gates are still in very good condition. The perfect town to crisscross by foot, visitors can indulge in gourmet Swiss chocolates or even splurge on a finely-made Swiss watch. If time permits, stop by the fascinating Jurassic Museum of Art and History.

Delemont is a short distance away from a number of other charming villages such as Courrendlin. The tiny town is home the Casino Barrier Jura, the only casino in the canton of Jura. it’s one of the few places in the area that stays open until the early hours of the morning. Visitors can enjoy the night playing Blackjack, American Roulette and poker. Patrons must be at least 18 with a valid ID and casual dress is permitted.
