Fribourg

Fribourg lies in western Switzerland, and is bordered by the scenic Lake Neuchatel. Mostly an agricultural region, the canton sits on the edge of the Swiss Alps and features rolling green hills, mountain peaks and quaint towns. Lake Neuchatel is the country’s largest lake, and undoubtedly the region’s most popular attraction. Visitors to Fribourg can enjoy lake cruises, many of which offer fine dining. Hiking and mountain biking around the lake is also popular, and takes visitors through medieval towns and scenic countryside.

For city amenities, the city of Fribourg is only 30 km from the lake. A historic area, tour companies offer walking tours around Fribourg, which is home to the lovely St. Nicolas Cathedral, and the Art and History Museum. Wandering outside the city’s borders, visitors will be greeted by the peace and serenity of the Swiss countryside.

Just north of Fribourg in Granges-Paccot, visitors to the town can find the Casino Barrier Fribourg. Offering the classic tables games and about 150 electronic slot machines, the casino is open to patrons over 18 with a valid ID. Unlike many casinos, casual dress is acceptable.
