Basel-Stadt

Basel is one of Switzerland’s largest cities and is located on the northern edge of the country on its border with Germany. The picturesque city is home to a number of interesting sites and attractions, including the enormous Kunstmuseum (Art Museum). The largest in all of Switzerland, the Kunstmuseum features an impressive collection of medieval artwork as well as impressive pieces from Rodin and Picasso. Standing tall along the Rhine River, in the center of town is the Basler Münster. The historic cathedral is popular with visitors, and is characterized by its gothic exterior architecture and Romanesque interior detailing.

Whilst the city of Basel has a history dating back thousands of years, it also has a modern edge. One example of modern Basel is its casino, called the Grand Casino Basel. With over 300 electronic slot machines, the casino is quite large and is located just outside the city’s center. Inside the casino is a bar, restaurant and live music venue. There are also a good number of live game tables featuring Blackjack, Poker, and Roulette. Patrons must be 18 or over with a valid ID to enter the casino, and casual dress is allowed.
