Aargau is a small, relatively rural canton of Switzerland on the country’s border with Germany. Baden is one of the canton’s most scenic and popular travel destinations. The tiny town has a population of just 18,000, but boasts a rich history as a spa town. The Baden hot springs are located just north of the town on the River Limmat. Baden and several neighboring towns are still home to a number of spas and thermal baths, which attract many tourists who come to enjoy the healing water and relaxation in serene surroundings. In the area around the town, visitors can enjoy hiking and biking. There are also several castle ruins in the region like Schloss Stein, which are open to visitors and offer great views of the scenery below.
