Extremadura

Extremadura is one of Spain’s westernmost regions and lies at the border of Portugal. The large province is home to a wide range of landscapes, and has a rich history as is evidenced by its wealth of Roman ruins, Arab citadels, castles and more. The city of Badajoz is a favorite amongst tourists, as it sits right on the border between Spain and Portugal. The area is home to several wineries, many of which are open to tours. In town, the archaeological museum does an excellent job of explaining the region’s history dating back thousands of years.

Badajoz is also home to a casino, which is open until the early morning. The facilities include electronic slot machines, video poker, as well as table games like blackjack, roulette and poker.
