Alsace
Alsace is a unique region of France nestled along the nation’s border with Germany. Aesthetically, the area is very similar to Switzerland and Germany and is well known for its quaint villages, green scenery and vineyards that produce excellent wines.
Strasbourg is Alsace’s most notable town. Along with playing host to the European Parliament, Strasbourg has a beautiful 15th century cathedral and a stunning example of Gothic architecture in the form of the Kammerzell House, which dates back to 1427. Along with Strasbourg, the scenic village of Obernai is also a popular with visitors, as it features many walking trails and traditional timber-framed buildings. Wine enthusiasts should not miss Alsace’s famous “wine route”, which runs from Marlenheim to Thann, and showcases dozens of fabulous wineries and vineyards open to visitors for tours and tastings.
