Styria
Styria, or the Steiermark as the region is called in German, is situated in the southeast of Austria, and is the second largest federal state of the country. Bordering Slovenia, the region has over the centuries adopted some of its neighbours more Slavik cultural influences, which is mostly reflected in Styria’s cuisine. Graz is perhaps Styria’s best known holiday destination, a gorgeous historic town with many attractions. Popular with climbers in spring, summer and autumn, the area is naturally beautiful and is also great for winter sports such as cross-country skiing, snowboarding and enjoying a horse-drawn ride in a sleigh.Graz has many fine restaurants, museums, art galleries and lively bars. For something special, visitors choose Graz Casino, an elegant building which adds greatly to the town’s nightlife appeal. Casino visitors must be smartly dressed, be at least 18 years of age and must be able to show ID in the form of a passport, driving license or ID card, upon arrival.
