Access Aspers Casino London

Aspers casino is located outside the London city center, on the 3rd floor of the Westfield shopping center in Stratford City. The casino is easily accessible by Tube (London’s subway system), via the Stratford or Stratford International stations. Getting to the casino by car is also an option. At the Westfield shopping center, use Car Park B and take the elevator to the 3rd floor of the mall, where the casino is located.

Westfield is one of the largest shopping malls in Europe. Theoretically, one could combine shopping with a visit to Aspers Casino. But at 20:30 at night not much was going on at the mall and many shops were already closed.

Admission Aspers Casino London

Entrance to the casino is free. Patrons must be at least 18 years old. According to the casino’s website, visitors will only be asked to present a valid ID if they look under 21 years of age, or if they plan to spend more than £1,000 at the casino – neither applied to me! So, unlike casinos I visited in Belgium, Germany or Austria, at Aspers I wasn’t asked to show an ID, and was simply let in to the casino.

Atmosphere Aspers Casino London

Walking into the casino, I was taken by surprise. The idleness of the mall on the evening of my visit was misleading. In the casino, a lot was happening, as could be expected from “London’s only super casino”.

The casino is located on a single level. Based on my experience I would say that Aspers is a very large casino by European standards. The slots area is simply huge. Although modern and clean, I couldn’t say that the design of the casino is in any way unique; to me, it looked like as the standard casino design.

Fit for a major European capital, the casino is a cosmopolitan microcosms with a pulsating atmosphere, much like the casino in Brussels. On average, the audience at the Aspers Casino was relatively young, well below 30. Walking around you could see just about every skin color. As a whole, I found the atmosphere in the casino to be very relaxed and welcoming to members of all social strata.

Dress Code Aspers Casino London

According to the casino’s official website, the dress code is “smart, relaxed and stylish, like the casino itself.” I found that to be a true statement. Sneakers and jeans are more than enough at Aspers. I wore a jacket over a T-shitrt, as did several other visitors, and felt totally overdressed.

Smoking Aspers Casino London

Aspers Casino is a no-smoking establishment. For us smokers, there is a large open terrace near the Poker area, which can be quickly reached from the Roulette and Blackjack tables. Another terrace is located in the rear part (next to the slots).

Where to start, I wonder? Well, let’s first take a look at the Poker area. The Poker tables are located at the far end of the Casino. On my way to the Poker area, I was amazed by the large number of tables spread all around the floor. At the reception to the Poker area, I inquired about the limits. I actually expected a wide range of limits because I saw at least 10 open, well-attended Poker tables.

However, I was told that the limits are 1 / 1 and 1 / 2/. When he saw my incredulous look, the nice man at the reception added that there is a waiting list for higher limits, and offered to put my name on the list. I asked about Omaha Poker and got the same answer: waiting list. It seems that the Aspers Casino in London is not for high rollers. Other than that, the crowd at the tables, just like in the rest of the Casino, was a colorful mix of peoples of all colors, ages and social standing, and I felt at ease playing there.

Roulette Aspers Casino London

At the time of my visit, at least 10 Roulette tables were open. At the first table I played next to some Swedish guys, age 20 or so, slightly drunk. One of them looked at me and I said “good luck”, just as the croupier spun the ball. When the croupier announced the wining number, the Swedish guy gave me a look that made me take a step backwards. “I won nothing”, he slurred. “But I did recover my losses”, he added, and gave me a toast with his fist (press fist to fist). The Swedish have their rituals, I suppose. I quickly walked away.

Players of the same age seemed to flock around the tables creating homogenous groups. There were tables with young players and tables with mostly older players, where I bet there wasn’t so much drama. You could just join the table were you would feel more comfortable.

Roulette Limits Aspers Casino in London:

At Aspers Casino, you can bet £500 / £1000 / £2000 on simple chances and £500 / £1000 on columns. Statistics are offered on an electronic board, which appear very slowly. You have to wait for a long time to get a complete overview. According to a member of the casino staff, the statistics refer to the last 500 spins.

Blackjack Aspers Casino London

Blackjack is popular at Aspers Casino. Blackjack pays 3:2, as is common in other casinos. Versions with additional betting options were offered. The maximum stood at £1000, which allows for a proper game of Blackjack . The crowd at the Blackjack tables was mixed.

Craps Aspers Casino London

Yes! There’s really Craps at Aspers Casino! However, only one Craps table was open. I didn’t check the limits. But if you like playing Craps, you can’t be too particular, as this game is not too common in European casinos. They say that playing Craps puts people in a good mood. That seemed to be the case at Aspers. The dealer also helped spread good humor around.

Poker Table Games Aspers Casino

At least 10 Poker tables were open at the time of my visit. I saw some 3 card Poker (probably 3 card stud). No table offered a maximum of over 100 pounds

Slots Aspers Casino London

As mentioned earlier, the slots area at the entrance to the casino is huge. The casino boasts 150 slots on its website and I believe this to be an accurate number. Mostly I saw IGT and Gaminator machines.

Conclusion Aspers Casino London

I rather liked Aspers Casino. I must note, though, that on average, the visitors and the dealers at the casino were very young. I encountered some drunken east-London youngsters around the tables. However, as the tables seemed to be attended by either young or older players, you could just choose your preferred environment.

As a whole, the atmosphere at the casino was pleasant and relaxed, but not elegant nor stylish. Aspers Casino rather follows the template for modern casinos.

For these reasons, as well as its location outside the city center, I wouldn’t recommend making a special detour to visit Aspers Casino.
